Nope, but interested in that question as well!

It´s either if G2 (engine) + editor will work in Win 7 (32-bit) or Win 8 (32-bit).
Tried to read up on it at Microsoft site, but they´re very vague on this subject.

Would be nice to know. Smile

It may break at some point. I'm learning that Windows 7 has screwed up MIDI support in general (not general midi support! Shocked ).

I have two specific cases with my x.factory Librarians, which also exist if "I go Low" in something like MIDIOX, and try on different MIDI interfaces.

  • in ex.factory, MIDI clock on the Yamaha EX5 MIDI A output stops the reception of SYSEX MIDI data in WIN7
  • in sy.factory, SYSEX sequencer data from the SY77/SY99 is cropped at what appears to be a 256 byte buffer limitation in WIN7.

I don't see these problems on XP or OSX Lion, so there's either a case for keeping an XP boot partition, or completely making the jump to OSX!

the only thing that i can reassure you is that the Modular Editor 3.03 and the Nord Modular G2 Editor 1.62 are working smoothly under Win 7 64 bit...
(except the error every time you close the Modular Editor 3.03 that forces you to kill it from the task manager)...

Cheers...!

Hmmmm - that's USB of course. I was just about to push the button on Vista Business x64 to Win 7 x64 but methinks I'll look into the MIDI issues a bit deeper first. Glad I saw your comments, Derek!

MIDI on OSX is working quite nicely though. Smile

I just installed Nord Modular G2 Editor 1.62 and the 64bit USB Driver 2.16 on my Netbook running Windows 8 Professional 64bit. The G2 still is on OS 1.40. Everything works!

Have you even tried W8 yet?
It's horrible. Stick with Windows 7.

No, I haven't, but I have read some good reports. I guess it still needs some maturing.

I'm very interested to see how in the touch screen response of Win8 will work with the programmer.

I have an Acer touch screen and the touch screen is responsive however its more the software side of things that let it down so its nothing more than clunky at best on the G2 programmer even at lower screen resolutions unlike the military spec Itronix laptops which work very well with XP.
