Midi Sync Question Subject description: How to Sync NM1 (Editor running on a PC) with a Mac system (running Logic) |
 |
|
Hi Modular Nation,
Is it possible to sync a NM Classic 1 running the editor on a PC with the Midi clock coming from a Mac system (Logic) ?
Basically, I use the PC just for the editor. Nothing else.
I can't figure how to have a sequencer or lfo synced with Logic.
The Modular is set to Midi Clock EXT, Omni OFF...
Any idea if this is possible ? |

You have to send clock to the midi input on the NM. You can't do it through the editor. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

Thanks for the answer.
Do you mean the Clock sent from Logic to the NM through the Midi interface, just like any Midi controlled external instrument ?
I have 1 port of my MidiSport 4x4 going through Korg Z1 (channels 1 to 6, MAM MB33 2 (ch8), DrumStation (ch10) and the NM (ch13 to 16).
I think I am missing something about how to use the Midi Global module in the NM. What I am supposed to do if i want an lfo synced ?
Sorry if it sounds repetitive but I just don't what else I could tweak as far as Midi settings.
Updated : I just found something about the Clock Divider module...
Will try. |

Yes, just like any other midi instrument, using the midi IN on the NM, not the midi port connected to the pc for editing.
But you won't be able to sync the LFOs (at least not precisely), as the LFOs on the NM do not have that capability (they do on the G2). You can sync any other clock driven or logic event, including sequencers, random pattern generators, envelopes, etc. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

Thanks again.
I figured it out (as far as the Sequencers). It was a combination of me not using the Midi Global and Clock Divider modules inadequately and Midi Sync destinations turned off instead of being on "All" in Logic Environment...
Logic can be tricky at times. I had this setup in my Project Template a while ago but as you add objects in your environment and you end up over time with a pretty complex setup, unexpected behaviors can occur... like cables being unplugged in the "Click and Ports" page or Midi settings going off.
And I always go "WTH is going on !!!" for a little while before figuring it out.
Anyway, i will play around with the Lfo sync and will check some of your music out (I saw your link). |
