Repair the rm1x Subject description: I'm stuck looking for the correct part... |
 |
|
Well guys, these Yamaha rm1x machines are known for bad keys after a few years, and mine has bad keys too. Now I can find a few threads over on the interwebs on how to change the keys (black and white), and what part to get for that. The problem with my machine is that a few of the other buttons (mainly the Play, the Pattern and the Cursor buttons) are bad too. So I can't change a lot of parameters, making the machine quite useless.
Anyone got an idea what part that is? Or is it the same tactile switch as under the keys?
Cheers,
Woody
Note to mods... I couldn't find a repair forum, and as I want to repair it myself, DIY forum seems to be the best place. If not, please move the thread _________________ Weblog!

hey wmonk!
I ordered a repair set on ebay. But it only included the key switches - black and white. They are really good quality though.
No idea where to get the other parts, mine are gone bad too. Also the decoders... |

yeah, my qy700s got dodgy buttons too.
Built like a tank too, you have to take the entire thing apart to get to the tact switches, pita.
i squirted some pure IPA in the buttons (not indian pale ale!) which did help a bit... |

Good to hear they're good parts. Will consider replacing the keys with em.
Anyone else having troubles with the other buttons? _________________ Weblog!

Hey there
I also picked up some some key switches sets, but also sets for the other switches. This was for my rs7000, i still have them, there was a guy selling sets of them on ebay, he had them for the RM1X as well
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-push-switch-tact-Pack-of-5-switches-Panel-switches-RS7000-RM1x-/321053623484?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=
try this auction, the guy seems to have some available worth checking what he has. Note as far as i know the switches are different for the RM1X and the RS7000 and they are well known for button issues. They are not 'easy' to change due to having to dismantle the whole machine to get at the keys.
cheers
