MOTM Power Supply for a single module |
|
|
Any advice on the cheapest way to get a power supply for a single MOTM module?
Does anyone have something that would do this they'd be willing to sell?
I just need to power a MOTM850 pedal input module.
Thanks! |

All it needs is a +-15VDC supply. A small one for a single module. Really small. How are you mounting the module? In a box? You could build a small power supply for it into the box, or obtain a +- 15VDC wall wart and fashion a connector/power interface for it.
I guess the bigger question is will you be getting more modules, or not. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Thanks for the info.
I'm putting it into a box and plan on just sticking with Eurorack for the foreseeable future. But this is a custom module that's not out there... a MOTM 850 modded to accept a Yamaha BC3 and send out voltage for CV. (Which I know you appreciate being a wind synth player.)
I didn't know - + 15 wall warts even existed. Do you have a link by any chance?
I did just order a used DIY supply (already made) for this for $40 and looks like it'll do the trick. The maker and reseller both are talking me through the hookup and should be fine.
Again, thanks... |

Hi again,
You're right, I do appreciate that modification
Closest I could come to finding a bipolar 15V wall wart is the PAiA website. Not really what you're looking for, possibly.
But if you've got a supply already, you can make a box that'll fit them both and maybe room for more. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Yes, looks like it is covered. Thank you!
BTW, about 2 weeks ago I went and found your recordings with Eigen Harp on it to have a listen (being a wind synthesist myself). Great playing! I really enjoyed it!
Been tempted to get a Pico, as it's a very different thing from what I usually play. Very cool you have the deluxe instrument in that line! |

Thank you, very much indeed. There are quite a few recordings to choose from. I'm glad I got my Alpha early on, they look like they're going to be somewhat limited in production in the near future; I guess not a lot of people want to pay that much for an instrument they won't understand how to work for a while. The Pico, however, now has configurable fingerings which will make it easier to pick up and play.
Glad you've got your power sorted out - beware, empty rack spaces will eventually be filled. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.
