Digital CV/ Gate Sequencer That can Store Sequences

Hi,

I am looking for a digital CV/ Gate sequencer that can store sequences allowing me to switch from one sequence to another. I already have a few analog sequencers and find it quite difficult to recreate songs, especially live.

Does anyone know of such a sequencer? Preferably DIY, but any other suggestions are welcome!

Your question is confusing. First you talk about storing sequences then you talk about storing "patches" which usually implies a particular configuration for a synth sound.

By storing patches do you simply mean a sequence of voltages that can be played back - like a patterns sequencer where you can choose the pattern?

Or do you mean something that can store patch cable routings?

Also, the cheapest and most powerful sequencing solution would be a Yamaha RM1x and a MIDI-CV converter, like a Kenton Pro Solo.

So can the RM 1x be used as an external sequencer without using it's preset sounds?

Re. RM1x not using its internal sounds: easy - don't plug any audio into the audio outputs You could also use a MIDI-CV converter with multiple outputs to control several analog synths at once.

The RM1x's grid-groove mode, midi effects and midi jobs are all outstanding. It rivals many software sequencers and is better than any iOS application, that's for sure.

The best part is that everything is stored in flash memory and never needs to be saved. You can of course import/export midi files using its floppy drive.

Just make sure the keyboard buttons are still responsive before you buy one. They can get a little crappy over time but can also be replaced.
