A client has asked me to hire/build him some kit to re-create the Audio Generator sounds played by Dik Mik from the early Hawkwind albums, but I don't know what gear he used or how it was set up.

(He doesn't need the VCS3 sounds, we have that covered with an MFOS Soundlab, but a second rig that his sound engineer can use at the same time)

Form what I have found the audio generator was "like a school one", it sounds like a sine wave so it probably just had a frequency dial, range selector and volume knob.

According to Lemmy, it went through a waa-waa pedal and an interview with the manager mentioned a ring modulator. Pictures show him with a wem copycat and a Selmer 100W guitar amp, which probably had a built in spring reverb.

Does anybody know where I can find out more please?

(Forgot to mention he wants it a close to the original as possible, so no soft synths)

I think the best way to figure this out might be to contact Del Dettmar. I reckon he still lives in Canada. It shouldn't be too hard to get in touch with him.
We found an interview online some years ago that described the rig used, but I cannot find it now. Essentially it was pretty much what Brock, Lemmy and several others have stated. In order to build something "authentic" either Dettmar or DikMik himself (Richard Michael Davies) should be the proper sources. AFAIK both are still alive.
