NM1 Editor On Win8? |
|
|
Has anyone tried it yet? A friend runs it on an old XP-based Fujitsu laptop with a built-in Wacom touchscreen, and he says the NM1 editor works great on it. I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to buy a new Win8 tablet or ultrabook or not. |

You have to run it in Win98 mode but it works fine
I found you have to lower the screen resolution to make the UI more touchscreen friendly but it does work on my Acer z5600.
I also use an old iTronix Gobook2 (on XPlite) with a military spec resistive touch screen that's very responsive as long as you don't chew your nails. |

So that is a yes for Windows 8?
I'm contemplating getting a tablet to use the editor with NM1 Rack.
Any other reports / issues? |

I use mine with an Acer z5600 touch screen with win8, its a bit clunky with sliders but buttons work ok.
The trick is lowering the resolution so the parameters are easier touch as such.
I still think the Itronix gobook works better tho you need a good fingernail to press on the resistive screen. |

I think those GoBooks are a stateside phenomenon only. Haven't seen any evidence of them down here in Australialand.
I plan to get a cheap Win8 tablet - so long as it has the USB to run my MIDI interface I figure it would be useful to integrate with my NM 1 rack.
Good news! |

A question for those of you using touch-screens...
I'm having issues connecting the red square outputs to red circular inputs. Using a stylus with the Iconia tablet it is possible to connect other types of connection (though magnification helps) but seems it wont connect the OSC outputs whatever I do. I've managed to get a cable coming from the square outs but it never creates a connection.
Anyone have any work-arounds?
Seems the same problem exists with the G2 demo. If i plug a mouse in it works and I also get to see the little plug icon. |
