Hi there!

After moving into a new appartment I started to build up my little studio. But when I switched on my G2X, no sound was heard.

On the headphone output there is a very low noise, depending what sound I choose.

The variation-switches don't work. Always the LED 1 lights. With the G2-Editor I can switch to the the different variations, but still no sounds.

I installed the Editor 1.62 again on PC and G2.

So I opened the G2X and pulled up the lid. The ELKOs on the power-supply looks strange, but it may be adhesive? Or is it normal. Did somebody opened the G2 and had the same?

Tomorrow I will measure the voltage.

What could it be?

All the best
Lippi

The goo on the PSU looks like glue to me yeah - I know there to be some electrolytics glued up in the PSU in my engines.

When the buttons do not work I'd start looking at the cable that ties the front panel to the main board.

That goo is common on modern switching power supplies. It is both a physical support and I have speculated that it helps to dampen whine which can be emitted at sub-harmonics of the the switcher frequency. If you see other leakage from the capacitors, bulging capacitor tops or burned components than that is the time to remove and replace components.
