Edited 26/07/2013: BOM corrected. It must be 8 20k resistors instead of 6.
Hi!
From today you have to be registered in MW forum, so I post all the documentation here. Second batch ships this week!

Jellyfish Rackmount |
|
|
Has anyone done a rackmount version?
I've not build anything yet but I assume it's as simple as finding a nice little 19" rack enclosure, drilling out the front panel, fitting the controls, and then running jumpers back to the mounted board.
This is something I'd like to try. Would be fun to put jacks on the front as well as the rear
I've actually considered what it would take to convert standard guitar pedals to rackmount as well which may be considerably harder due to the pots/switches being already soldered in. |

Hi
you can do it easy. just remeber to build a 9V power supply inside the rack. |

Hi there!
In Barcelona again.
So,
still have PCBs, cases and kits. Whatever you want just follow the instructions and I will send everything every week.
The planing now, after setting up the shop and before designing new machines is to make a Jellyfish V2. This one will have some diferences with the V1:
- Two versions. The desktop one, which is the original idea and the modular one. This is extra work but I think these are very different ways of using it to keep it only in the desktop format.
Desktop:
- Will plastic this time. This is again my first idea to keep everything as DIY as possible, but the limitations of using a standard case (limited space, price,...) have made me to change my mind. I will design a case by peaces and the wiring will be = 0. The price will be better, I hope, and the size and weight less. I have to check all the possibilities and people doing this.
- Two boards, the elimination of hard to find 3PDT switches (using analog IC switches), a button to active or disactive the delay output when it's in bypass (useful with a delay!), an input for an external switch (like a footswitch), and maybe other things (the pot leds, and other features).
- 9V
Modular:
- Easy to mount as the desktop one.
- Metal panel.
- only one delay line. Yes, but it will have the send return connectors in the feedback section that will permit to connect 2, 3 or 40 jellyfishes between them, allowing to use the Xdelay fucntion in the same way or better. These can be used to connect other effects in the feedback section.
- Maybe a filter pot allowing to control the amount of filtered freqs in the FB section.
- +/-12 to 15 V operation
That's it for the moment!
Ideas are welcome |

Hi there!
The Jellyfish V2 is very very near to see the light. According to the new formats for the machines of plankton electornics, there will be 2 versions: The desktop one, with acrylic case, and the modular one, for eurorack.
Both versions will use 2 boards and they need 0 wiring, just straight building.
The Desktop one will be very similar to V1, with the addition of sync ins per channel, a gain pot and the "tail" function wich permits to cut or leave the delay line when bypassing.
The modular version will be a single channel one, with sync in, send and return connections at the feedback path (so you can connect 2 or more JF between them to create the "xdelay" function or connect other effects); CV time, CV feedback and CV wet ins and attenuators and an LFO output.
But... I have no more cash to continue with the project (I just need to finish the case and the panel) and I need some money input. Apart of sell some machine from the studio I'm selling the remaining V1 PCB and cases at a 50% of the price. So, the PCB is 10€ and the case 30€. I want to sell all the V1 as the new machines will keep the formats of the V2. If anyone interested you know where to buy!
Some phone crappy pictures of the prototypes without case. (The wires of the desktop model are for testing purposes, it works with male and female pins.)

Very few steps for the release! The desktop version will take more time...
Anyone in? Don't know prices yet.

Great!
I will post prices and demos as soon as I can. Still working on minor things of the machine.
I guess that the set of 2 PCB will be between 20-30e and panel I have no idea yet, but I imagine around 30e. The preprogramed chip for the Sync function around 3e.
Soon! _________________ www.planktonelectronics.com |

Sounds decent!
Tell us about the sync in, I guess it´s syncing the lfo?
I love syncing things |

Better, it syncs the delay time! Just input an square wave and the dely time will sync to it, inside he delay time limits. _________________ www.planktonelectronics.com |

Yes,
this is because the schematic is for the Jellyfish V1, and the sync function is for the Jellyfish V2. I have not posted the schematic yet.
The sync function, which is the last thing to calibrate before the release, works as follows:
When you connect a jack in the Sync Input the delay pot is disconnected, then the sync signal (a square wave) is feed into a AVR programmed chip which talks to a digital potentiometer. The digital pot is connected in place where the time pot was. And that's it.
The sync have an error of +/- 1msg _________________ www.planktonelectronics.com |
