Symmetrical Digital Dividers

Something I came across yesterday. 3 circuits to divide a squarewave by 3, 5 or 7 but with a 50/50 output. I dont'know if it's been posted before
but seems useful for lunetta's Wink

anyway you can find it here. I allready had a CD4013 wired up on breadboard for a /4 divider, so all that was needed
was to add the XOR. The oscillator I used is a CD4046 VCO which allready has a build in XOR, so that was easy to hook up and it works like a charm. Very Happy

If you add a switch in the "feedback loop" and a pulldown resistor to the XOR's input you can choose between /3 or /4. (with some more switches
/1.5 and /2)

There's also a Four Phase Clock Generator on the same site which could be a nice addition to a lunetta Cool

yes, this is a very old trick. But a nice one and a good idea to repost it every decade for the newbies Smile

It can also be used with a 4017 or any divider to get symmetrical outputs : use a frequency doubling circuit - in this case an XOR, but simpler gates with RC spike generation on the rising and falling clock edge will work too - feed the doubled clock to any divider and symmetrize the output by /2 e.g. with a T - flip flop.
don't overlook: input clock must be symmetrical.
