This is why I got confused, I though to my self how can it be that I got pitch and tune? Now it's all cleared
ok, got it, it's Tone not Tune. |
Isak, Tune and Tone for me are synonyms |

Tell me please, can I replace the bc559a with bc560c? _________________ http://www.myspace.com/mgmtrance |

Hi Isak,
I've only used the amplification C factor for all BC5*'s and works & it sounds great. |

Oohhh the one you said to put instead of the 22-50k right?
Cool.
Another question...
From the layout I don't see the main output.
The vol pot pin 2 is connected to pin 3, is this correct?
if yes where is the output? I missing it _________________ http://www.myspace.com/mgmtrance |

yes, max 35-37K should be better!
I've wired the output at the pin 6 of the TL071... You can see the free pad. |

Hi furio
i finally assembled the 909 board with your mods.
well...sadly its not working, i even dont get any noise or something, it seams dead.
i dont know from where to start troubleshooting.
the velocity is connected to 15V permanent, the trigger is connected to 5V midi2cv trigger (suppose to be trigger not gate, right?)
i used:
TL071's
TL072's
559's and 547C's
any help will be much appreciated.
cheers,

New findings.
The trigger V was not enough to trigger the 909, I had to increase the V to 10V for it to start triggering, now it's triggering ok.
The other problem I have is the sound is not stable, meaning, it's sounds like there is a connection problem or ground problem but there is not, I've checked everything twice.
If I touch the pins of 40106 with my hand it become ok for few seconds then come back to the distorted sound.
I think the problem is in the trigger area but where exactly I don't know.
Any idea what can make this problem? , maybe is cause the high 10V trigger?
2 more things...
Attack pot is not responding, I used 1k pot and put 1k resistor in the outer pins for it to become 500ohm.
The noise pot is not responding, I put 1M res in the 330k to 2.2M just to see if it's working or not, any res value you suggest?
Cheers,

Hi Isak,
if you have a 5V trigger, you can simply remove the 40106 and connect the trigger to the 22K resistor! ...Let us know if you can test the board better! |

Hi Furio.
Do you use the 40106 or directly to 22k?
Ill do the test you told me.
Ither way it's suppose to work with 10, 12, 15V to the 40106, doesn't it?
Its not so complicated circuit, I checked if there is a short somewhere, replaced the 40106 to another brand, same results, very streange!
I'll let you know later on if connecting to 22k did the trick.
how the attack suppose to response?
Does it suppose to attack the first click of the kick?
The "Tone impact" is suppose to work like the Tone pot in the 808BD?

Hi Isak!
I just verified with a 5V trigger, linking directly to the 22K and removed 40106.
Usually I use the 40106... my usual triggers are 10V and 15V.
The Attack parameter is not a potentiometer, but a variable resistor that affects mainly on the amount of noise and click suond. I think your method will not work.
The "Tone Impact MOD", raises or lowers the tone of the Click Suond. |

Do you mean the 1k res in parallel with the 1k pot?
Cant I just use 1k pot or is it to much?

Hi furio.
An update, I just did the impact tone mod, works great.
I repleced the 22k to 33k and soldered a 22k pot in series, the results was from high click to no click at all, very cool, Thanks for this mod!
Still no idea why the noise is not working, maybe I need to change the 1M resistor I put in the 330k-2.2M pads?
Anothe Q, does the waveform should look like in the pic above? Looks strange, insnt it?
Cheers,

Hi Isak,
I don't remember the value of my noise resistor... I started with 1M and I tried to change... If you have the socket transistor, maybe do a faster search for a transistor to produce more noise. |

Hi Furio.
I tried to replace the noise transistor to 3 kind, 549B,547B/C and 550C non of them worked, it seems that the noise circuite is not working, any idea from where to start troubleshooting?
About the waveform looks, I tracked the audio path and find the spot that it's offsetting, I found that it's from the output IC tl071, it seems the other brand did the trick and fix that, now the kick is centered
I actually tried 3 brands of 071, each one gave different response.
The first click is still offsetting down, this I don't know how to check.
I have an idea to fix this but I don't know where to assemble this on the board.
Trimmer to outer pins connected to +15 and -15 to the click circuite, sound logical?
cheers,

A silly question : should I print it mirrored and then iron it to the PCB or the PDF has print ready PCB drawing? |
