anybody able to ID this PCB? |
|
|
I know its a filter, but I cant remember anything else and I have NO idea where I put all the info that was with it. I just found it in a pile and started populating it cause I had a few minutes and thought "why not--i think it might go in this other thing over here or maybe with this doohicky over there"
and then after id done the ICs..kinda figured out I had NO idea what it was exacty..and theres NOTHING written on it other than a couple numbers which turn out to be unrelated.
im sure someone knows what it is? Maybe we can think of it as a 'challenging new game of figure out 'what the hell he's found in his pile of junk today'" _________________ www.newvoodoodesign.com

Maybe try googling the components to find a BOM?
Is there any particular component that's more unusual? i.e. if it's a filter, is it made with the typical SSM2164 or LM13700, or is it something more esoteric? |

Yaaa, Don't you love hobby electronics.
moogah SEM VCF
I was just going thru my board backlog today and have it on my desk.
OK, I work in electronics and when I find stuff like this I just bang my head against the wall. Here are some of the issues I see with the board. I've worked in electronics long enough I can handle all these. And if I need good test or rework equipment I can just take things to work and do them.
* No board name or rev number.
* Values on the board silk screen vs. designators. Great when you assemble it, bad when you have to debug/fix it or values change.
* Small pads which require good soldering equipment which most hobbyists don't have to pull/change parts.
Good luck.

It is indeed the Mooghah SEM filter board. If you are going to build it be sure to read the thread on Muffs first as it can be built in two different ways - with and without voltage controlled resonance. Certain components are only needed depending on which build you go for. Also one of the transistors is silk screened the wrong way round on the board.
Built mine a while ago with voltage controlled resonance and love it although it still has a few minor issues to be sorted. Been having to much fun using it to get round to that yet

yep it is and thanks to everyone.
And yes, I DID read the thread.
WOW, if id known all the problems id never have gotten on it, but ill soldier thru.
Just FYI for anyone else getting it-PM me if you do as there are QUITE a few unlabeled, poorly labeled, wrong way-facing, unnecessary SMD pads, etc issues and ive made a list from the forum thread so I can be sure and check them all off when finishing. _________________ www.newvoodoodesign.com

Yea, I do mostly custom guitars but I also do a good bit of circuit bending and trading/selling in a VERY minor way (imagine an online version of a table at a swap meet)..that said, id have NEVER put this out BUT Id also say at the same time-its probably (and I dnt know the person in the slightest) smeone also doing it very small time and perhaps its their first project or they are very young and got excited and focused on the finish line and not the details (which can, admittedly, REALLY get you in electronics) _________________ www.newvoodoodesign.com
