playing the portamento knob Subject description: changing glide rate of active voice |

As an active note was gliding from one key to the next, I'd wanted to be able to turn the portamento knob and affect the rate. This works on my vintage analogs, and for just about every other modern analog / hybrid / virtual analog I've tried (except not on the DSI Tetra, Mopho, Prophet 08 either, though it works on the DSI Prophet 12). Turning the A6's portamento knob had no effect during the glide, only seemed to affect the rate after the next keypress. Kinda turned me off to using the A6 for mono lead sounds.
I'd searched the web before, seemed the only way to affect rate during the glide was to set up a mod using some control source other than the actual portamento knob: ribbon, pedal, etc.
However, I just noticed that if I set up a Mod for portamento time, enable it, and leave the mod level = 0 and offset = 0, now the portamento knob DOES affect the rate during the glide. Press & release low C on the keyboard, set glide to max, press & hold high C, the glide starts ... now I can change the glide rate using the knob (as I'd wanted to all along). I've had the A6 for years, just discovered this. Doesn't matter what source is chosen (since the level is zero), just matters that the mod is enabled.
Can anyone else confirm this? Was this listed in a FAQ years ago & I just missed it?
btw - OS version 1.40.12. Time to work on my Frankenstein cover ... |
