Loose wire link in G2... Is this normal? can anyone pls chk? |

Hi,
I opened up mu G2 to clean dust out and noticed something a bit strange.
There appears to be a wire link connected U26 (pin 14) to R26, but on my G2 the wire link is not soldered on any more at one end, it 'floating' next to it.
Here is a photo:

The wire connects from point A to point B, but noticed how it is not actually attached at B...
Is this normal? or it a hack someone put in?
Should I resolder it?
Thank you very much

to the electro-music forum Guy
I opened my G2 Keyboard (but not my G2X) and I don’t see any evidence of that jumper wire on my main board. I did a quick check and found that the other end of R26 is connected to the logic Vcc power supply rail which is also connected to pin 14 of U26 (point A in your picture). That jumper would have shorted whatever is connected to R26 at point B directly to the Vcc rail instead of normally going through that 10k resistor. Unless other G2 owners chime in that there are connected jumpers on their boards, I would not recommend reconnecting it. In fact, it is a bit dangerous to leave that jumper floating like that where it could accidentally short some other part of the circuit to the Vcc rail. I would remove the jumper entirely or at least insulate the floating end.
BTW, are you the original owner of this G2? _________________ varice |

Looks like someone did an experiment there, yup .. but without a schematic (and likely source code would be needed too) it is hard to tell what the idea was ... to me it looks like a previous owner did it, the soldering is not factory quality (not that it is bad soldering). _________________ Jan
also .. could someone please turn down the thermostat a bit.

Hi,
thanks for all the feedback, Im not the original owner but i have seen another couple of thinks soldered on.
To make it even more of a mystery, someone posted me this pic, of another G2 and you can see the link is there too!

But I think, I'll follow the initial advice and not reattach it. The synth is working, I try not to fix things which aren't broken!
