I need to get a new drum kit, and since I've had an acoustic so far, for 10 years now (it lasted well enough, considering what it's gone through with me Razz), I thought I sould try myself with electronic drum set. Here I require some assisstance, because, while I do know a thing or two about acoustic instrument, I'm not that knowledgeable with this new age thing Razz

Well, I understood that much, that Roland is a big shot with their electronic kits, but to be completelly honest, they sound a bit pricey for me. So, I was thinking get this simple DDrums DD1. It's much more suitable (pocket-wise Razz).

My question is - is it worth it to go for a cheaper instrument, over the one that even I know is good and reliable?

That's the first thing I wanted to ask. Next, I'd like to ask you to maybe suggest me some other solution, if you happen to have a better one.

Thanks

If you want a quality electronic drum kit, roland seems to be the main guys to go to. I would save up for something that would last longer.

As far as any other solution, there are some MIDI detectors that you can attach to almost anything (foot, kitchen appliances) and send information that way and turn anything into a drum set. I know Teenage Engineering is one of the developers of this type of technology.
