Connect note output to FM input of an OSC, then fully open in the FM amount.

I finally got around to playing with WREN and started by using Midi Tangle to use the local host to send midi data from a usb keyboard into WREN. Here are the basic steps:

1. Set Midi Tangle to server mode.
2. Create a virtual cable in Midi Tangle.
3. Point WREN to the virtual cable (port) and connect.

3b. Using the localhost as server, point WREN to the same port setup in Midi Tangle and then connect.

Both Midi Tangle and WREN will report the successful connection. (For WREN, see the screen shot above with the green led showing the connection. For Midi Tangle, see the screen shot below.)

When you turn off WREN or disconnect the virtual cable in WREN, Midi Tangle will report that forwarding thread has been terminated and the virtual cable has been disconnected.

So far as I have been able to make sense of it, WREN seems to have the capacity for several monophonic midi inputs. So far I have had 3 midi ins trigger notes and affecting WREN features using CCs. More on this later when I get a screen shot for a patch worthy of sharing.

For the time being, here's a shot of a patch in progress.

Channel 1 was originally triggered from the usb keyboard, but after trying to make it polyphonic (which I don't think WREN can do at present), I made a simple L/R sequence. The usb keyboard will determine the note as well as the amount of timbral shift and the rate of the lfo.

Channels 2 and 3 also trigger notes.

In terms of multiple monophonic midi, its reminds me of as Casio CZ synth in mono mode--where each midi in can play one patch.
