Subject description: Electro-Music Radio MKII
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

There is now a new radio stream that offers a uniform listening experience.

http://electro-music.com/~janpunter/play.php?port=8054

I am calling it Electro-Music MKII.

The main stream is still the place to go for live events, and for the full electro-music experience.

However, the variety on the main stream can be extreme, and sometimes I found myself in the mood for a certain style of music right when an hour long performance of a different style would start.

There is already Stillstream for when I feel like slow/ambient music, so I decided to start with music that has a bit faster tempo and beat oriented.

Blue_Hell set up this new stream for us to test out. I listened through the available music over the past month and selected songs that fit the style.

The new playlist features mid to fast tempo music that ins't too heavy or glitchy. Pretty much anything that made me want to tap my foot or bob my head made it into the playlist.

I need your help

This new channel is both to create a better listening experience and to feature the music of artists from this community. So please listen and let me know what you think. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.

Please PM for the following:
1. Music that you want added to the playlist. I can't guarantee that it will all get added, but I will listen to every recommendation and add it to the playlist if I feel that it fits. I didn't listen to every single track, so there are likely some songs that I missed.

2. Music in the playlist that you feel doesn't fit. I just skimmed through most of the songs, so there might be some that don't fit. Others may have sounded good on their own, but feel out of place when listening back to back with the rest of the playlist. Please do not post here about any tracks you would recommend removing - send me a PM. I don't want anyone to feel like their music is getting booted because it isn't good enough. Again, I can't guarantee that I will make the change, but I will re-listen to the track from start to end and make the decision.

If feedback is good on this new stream, then maybe we can try some more options in the future. There are a lot of fast tempo and high intensity songs that would make for another good stream.

Sounds exciting anyway.

Do we get some kind of description later? Smile

It is difficult to pin it down exactly, since it is literally anything that made me tap my foot without being too heavy and/or noisy. Here is a possibility. Let me know what you think.

A selection of some of the best rhythm and melody driven music from the electro-music.com archives.

The 'rhythm and melody' part excludes a lot of the ambient and experimental stuff, and the 'selection' part excludes stuff that was too heavy or just didn't fit with the other music.

As mentioned, I have been calling it electro-music Radio MKII. I thought that the abundant use of MKII in synth and audio gear made sense, but I am open to other names if anyone has a suggestion. However, I think that we need to keep electro-music in the name.

Here is a propose action plan:

Put the playlist on a dedicated port/stream. (Blue Hell)

Add the new channel to the radio page on the site. (Blue Hell)

Add the new channel to the chatroom topic. (Blue Hell)

Add new banner to the rotation to promote the channel. (Muied Lumens)

Promote and share the link on social media sites. (EVERYBODY!)

Ok, I've taken step one and started a dedicated server for this /// I'm not sure yet whether I want to relay it to srv3 or not .. probably not, as the whole relaying stuff doesn't make that much sense anymore for the current server setup .. it was all invented to to circumnavigate some godaddy issues ... need to reflect a bit on this.

Keep me alert please, I'm lazy Laughing
