It is always a thrill to hear a new UWE GRONAU album because you never know what to expect from track-to-track. His new instrumental album THOUGHTS OF TOMORROW is now out and it has one major thing in common with its predecessors. It has about ten different styles of music on it. It is an incredible eclectic blend of progressive-new-age, rocking new age, ambient-spacey new age, with a snapping snare here and a tempo change there, some organ solos squeezed in a few places and unusual synthesized sounds all around. Check out the tune “Journey Pt. 1” to hear how he creates magical musical adventures and takes you on a train trip (or perhaps “brain trip”). Gronau plays synth on most of the numbers, a lot of piano and some very tasty organ here and there. He also adds a little electric and acoustic and bass guitar in a few places (probably done using synth, but created quite skillfully). I dug the tempo changes and rumbly-bass on “The Secret of House #15,” the electric guitar at the end of “Hiding Place,” and the organ and interesting melody on the snappy “Make It Happen.”
