I found an old thread (http://electro-music.com/forum/post-404371.html) which specifically talked about ... and described someone who succeeded in doing ... what I am trying to do: remove the keys from an Oberheim Matrix-6 synthesizer in order to clean them.

Sources say that these keys are identical to those of the Akai AX-80 and the Korg Lambda, but I have not yet found anything that shows me exactly how to remove these keys.

As I said in the other post, these keys look like they were specifically and cleverly designed to be "exceptionally easy to remove," just by pulling them back and perhaps gently prying them up. But it's just not working that way.

The OP in that thread somewhat-cryptically said that he'd succeeded and tried to say what he did, but I just don't quite "get it" and I don't want to break any plastic.
