I guess my reaction to this news is: why?

At times like these, I am glad that I'm a synth-DIYr -- at prices like that ($35,000 for 36 modules) bloops and bleeps would be utterly unaffordable!

Because they are hugely popular?
Because they sound massive?
$36K is a lot cheaper than one of the originals, but I won't be buying one either.

I don't see how it makes any sense to buy one of these today, apart from the trophy appeal.

But then again, they make Buchla look like a bargain and I won't be buying that any time soon either...
