Hi all,

Although I think Ableton is a good and user friendly program, I can't get it working properly on my computer. The computer provides more than the minimum specs for Ableton (It is an Intel based computer running Windows 7 professional). I'm using a Tascam 16 in 4 out usb midi interface that otherwise works well.
It takes Ableton 5+ minutes to start, and once loaded and running it remains extremely slow and unusable.
Has any of you ever encountered similar problems or knows how to solve them?

Maybe your Windows is set up with a low performance power-saving energy profile?

First time you run Live it scans for new VSTs and also its library, that can take some time and cause it to be slow until it finishes the scan. (also happens every time you add a lot of new stuff)

If you close it before it finishes it will keep scanning every time you open it.

You really think it could be as simple as that? I had not thought of that at all and its certainly worth I try!

I'll give it a go tonight and let you know the result. Thanks for sharing this.
