Thanks!
I haven't done multiplexing with analog, something tells me the time it takes to charge the capacitor on the ADC might be too long. These days you'd be hard pressed to find a microcontroller with more than 16 ADC inputs on it but you could easily chain a SPI bus, then your only limitations on your main microcontroller would be chip select ports. What's really going to cut back the project would be the cost of the Force Sensing Resistors from Sensitronics or Interlink. The interlink ones are usually $6 a piece. I'd be inclined to not go much more than 16 and then have a PAD BANK select button to toggle the midi notes you're playing.
I'm multiplexing 8 rotary encoders with the project, I've got another electronics build that's going to take front burner for a little bit then I'll finish this one. |

Thanks for your follow up on this!
I moved the blog to a new web address:
http://ayatomm.com/forums.html/2015/06/06/3d-printed-midi-drum-controller-diy-project/
I have the web address of the pads linked there, and the STL but the STL file can be found here:
https://github.com/Ayatomm/DRUM_INTERFACE
The STL file is just a bezel (faceplate).
I can say the fit for the rubber pads is very good for the design file.
Thank you for showing interest! Please do share if you build anything from this. I'm getting back around to this project after finishing up a wireless MIDI XBEE radio project for my keytar. I will likely be publishing updates in the near future. Last edited by dshay on Wed Jul 15, 2015 8:31 am; edited 1 time in total |
