Trouble keeping Klee powered on Subject description: Step switch somehow involved... |
|

Hey smart people,
I just built my first Klee (it's my fourth or fifth DIY project), using the kit from NV/Synthcube. When I started testing it, I quickly noticed that there was very little resistance (less than 1 Ohm) between the +12V pins and ground. Poking around, detaching the Analog/Digital PCB from the daughterboard, and then finally detaching the front panel (not fun, lots of little nuts), I traced it down to the manual Step switch. I don't think it's the switch itself per se, but if I desolder the switch, the +12V rails are no longer shorting to ground, and I can get the thing to power/light up. (There still seem to be some issues with operation, which I will address once I can figure this power thing out...)
I'm having trouble figuring out where the short is actually occurring. The momentary switch itself seems to function properly, giving me no continuity when open, and no resistance when pressed, so I'm guessing that it's just allowing the short to "reach" the rest of the circuit somehow? This is where people smarter than me should chime in...
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I don't have any brilliant suggestions, but this sounds like something in the daughterboard panel, for which I don't currently have a schematic. NV regularly reads the muffwiggler threads about his kit and helps with people needing troubleshooting advice, I'd recommend trying that avenue. |
