Hello,

My apologies for asking for help. I have built a CGS06 Burst Generator but it doesn't seem to want to work. I've printed out the schematic and gone through the board with my multimeter, but I'm not finding any errors. Has anyone had any experience with this project? I have an oscilloscope, but I'm not sure how to hook it up yet to test as I just got it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there .

I built one of these on veroboard for my orange bass synth (mfos) http://www.electro-music.com/forum/topic-58281.html
When I use it I have a clock from one of my analog sequencers running the clock input & I have a trigger or gate plugged into the trigger input to set the bursts off at the end of a 4 bar sequence.

Dave.

Thanks Dave. Cool project. I'm familiar with the operation, mu issue is that it doesn't seem to be working, despite pretty much all components being tested and verified. Did you run into any issues with your Burst Generator? Anything I should look out for? I'm looking for troubleshooting assistance.

Hi , I must have been lucky when building my one , no problems after power up ,but - when using my burst gen , I sometimes found my Mfos triggers didn't have enough kick for some CGS module trigger in's , a simple buffer cured that Smile , a few things to check , ignore if you have done power tests already ......, are you getting 15v at the chip + power legs.
Can you try a scope to see the clock coming in & also the clock going to run the 4017 clock input.
Are all required ground / 0V connections connected.

Good luck , Dave.

hello boys!

i've been meaning to write this down. i had built 3 burst generators in the recent years, just to be pissed that none of them worked.
than i built yusynth's clk div, and it didn't work either. i started changing everything, trannies etc, never worked, but changed the 4017 in one section, and it worked.
with motorola. so i got the burstgen's out from the drawer, and changed all the socketed TI 4017's, and i now have 3 working burst generators. Very Happy Abelovesfun, i can see a TI in your build, i'd try changing that. it worked for me, i couldn't believe it. Very Happy

i`m open to explanations, i love to learn... hope this helps you.

I fixed it, it was actually just an error with the LED. It works great!
