Hi Inventor .. i have seen the chuck section here but not really sure about it .. those modules are with pic in it if i got it right .. that boolean sequencer might be a nice thing to build if it ain't very complicated do you offer a pic for it ? .. anyway i got a long way to go till i can order stuff again .. but it does sound exotic - a boolean sequencer Smile

Vladosh, anything that counts out a binary sequence can be a boolean sequencer, just hang some resistors off of it to create a CV output. That's as simple as it gets and you can get as complicated as you like (which I have done in software form).

The history of the BS (love that acronym) is that I started out here at electro-music knowing almost nothing about music and lots of stuff about electronics, so when I needed a sequencer I was at a loss. I didn't know about step sequencers or Baby 10's or Klee's, etc. so I just conjured up something out of my digital logic understanding mixed together with my analog understanding. Out popped a BS and the rest is, well, fun!

Since that time I have discovered that as is so often the case, the BS is a re-invention not a totally original invention, as it has been done in simpler form using diodes and other techniques from the very beginning of synthesizers. It is occasionally reinvented as well by others. The only thing I did was really explore it thoroughly in all its forms or many of them using ChucK software.

What's cool about it is it can produce extremely long sequences that do not repeat for a long time, like 256 notes or 4096 notes or whatever you want really. It does, however, repeat phrases of sound and it modifies those phrases as the song progresses too, and these features make for enjoyable listening.

If you would like to build any type of BS, just start a thread in an appropriate forum and call my attention to it. I will be happy to describe it to you there, plus it's a public record being in a post, so others can follow along too.

Good luck

Les

Hi guys.

I came a cross the OneBoard farm synth, looks like fun project.
Andy,
how does it sound?
Ive tried to search the net for sound samples and the only thing I found on this synth is this post.
Is it really that "bad"?

It's basic and raw, but "fun" to build - It was one of the first things I did when I got into SDIY. I originally intended to put together a basic Polysynth, but I got sidetracked when I realized that ARP circuits were easy(ish) to copy Wink

Unfortunately, I no longer have it Sad

But the VCO output was 5v PP (0-5v, I think) and stable over 4 octaves. The VCF was aggressive (!!!) very similar to the MS20, but the resonance was harsh and difficult to control at high settings.

There was also a little bleedthrough from the LFO to the VCO, but looking back, that could have been due to the rough PSU I built for it Embarassed

Thank you Andy.

I see the ms20 design on the pcb is an LM13700 one, I saw in his site the transistors version, by reading this I was wandering is its any better sounding /acting then the LM13700 one.
mmm...any one built the other version?

Thank you very much for helping out here Smile
Cheers,

Hi guys.

Can you please try to explain how the pots of the env connects?
I don't really understand from the scheme what should I do.
Let's take the decay and sustain, theres a diode that connected from the decay to the sustain, from what leg in the decay pot to what leg in the sustain pot?
About the other parameters, attack, release ...all 3 leg are connected?
Please help out, I tried everything, doesn't seems to work at all.

The scheme:

Hi guys Smile

Can you maybe advice on how to make soft sync to hard sync from the oneboard farm VCO scheme?

Hmmm.... Instead of the sync in going to pin 6 of U2, maybe try putting it to the gate of Q2?

Thanks for replying Andy.

My goal for hard sync is to connect a trigger to the sync input for getting the wave shape restart, like we talked about in the next post
http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-65032.html
Do you think I'll need a hard sync or maybe the soft sync will do?
Thanks Andy Smile
