Moderator: If this question is not asked in the right forum, please feel free to reallocate this.

I am working on a diy modular synthesizer and looking at e.g. the layout of a Moog, oscillators have a knob with LO, 32', 16', 8', 4'and 2'.
This has something to do with the length of an organ pipe, the longer the pipe the lower the frequency.
But how does this relate to midi messages? What octaves/midi note numbers will a 32' (16', 8'etc.) setting use?

In "footage" (as these are known as), The 8' setting is where the middle C (i.e., 261.6Hz) is at the, well, middle of the keyboard.
In MIDI, this is equivalent to Midi note #60 (decimal) or 3C in hexadecimal.
The midi notes are incremental as you go up from the middle C - C# being #61, D=#62 etc.

Thank you.
And, obviously, going from 32' to 16'is one octave up.
Right?

Yup! So the order to understand it is:

32' 16' 8' 4' 2' ....etc, where 8' is "concert pitch"
