I plan to design a small connector-board with "all" connectors I need for my project.

I started out with 2 1/4-inch TS jacks for Left and Right. Then I realised that I might want to have the option to just plug in a stereo-jack in one of them.

That is "easy" solved by having one TRS and one switched TS. When no plug is inserted in the R-jack that signal goes to the ring on the TRS.

The only problem I see with that solution is that if a mono-jack is inserted in the L/R connector and nothing in the R jack I will short the right signal to ground..

How to solve that in a smart way?

Another option is to have a L/mono solution. With a plug in only the L jack I get a summed L and Right signal to that.

I realise that I need some kind of summing circuit here that is only active when needed. Any ideas?

you could use passive summing wih some resitors I think (for outputs).

Seems to be a "good enough" solution to get the L/mono R config

For a short-protection in the L/R R (I.e "someone" plugs a mono-jack in the stereo-jack) I probably need a resistor to ground in that path.. or?

Noticed one thing with the circuit above.
There will always be a right signal present at the L jack, so if you plug in 2 mono plugs the right signal will go to ground in the L jack and to tip in R jack

Would it not be better to tap the right signal off the switched pin in the R-jack?
Then it is only there when no plug is inserted in the R jack

sure, you loose the ability to output stereo AND the right channel on separate cables Very Happy

you mean like this ?

yeah, looks like that works Very Happy
I had a feeling it could be simplified just didn't see it.

Exactamundo

Now I will dig deeper in the mysteries of where to put that resistor
I've seen 2 different approaches. One where the feedbackloop of the output-amp connects after the resistor and one where its connected the "usual" way (direct to the outputpin)

If you are talking about opamps than in this case put them outside of the feedback loop. I just happen to see a
thread on muffs earlier today with some examples and if you want to use resistors to mix signals together that's
the better option.
