Darwin Arts just released Trilobite 1.3, the next version of its flagship Modular Synthesizer application. As always, Trilobite features full visual patch editing, extensive parametric control, and an innovative patch breeding system to carry your creativity into hitherto unexplored territory!  Using the same natural phenomena that brought you jellyfish, slime molds, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and yourself, this synth exploits Darwinian Natural Selection to help you create radically bizarre new sounds from basic acoustic building blocks.  Trilobite’s visual editor gives you the tools you need to create drones, soundscapes, keyboard instruments, effects…you name it!  Once you have an appealing patch, you can go on to evolve thousands of mutated possibilities.

This particular version of Trilobite introduces parameter naming features, two new module types, and several important bug fixes.  Both the Pro and Free versions now include a Signal Smoother module useful for portamento effects, and the Pro version introduces an A/B Gate module which can be used for vector synthesis. Since our last posting on electro-music.com, we’ve also added the Sound Color vocal filter/synthesizer module and published a bank of patches to demonstrate it.
