G2-IAN - Ian Sayer- are you ok? Subject description: Quake & Tsunami in New Zealand |
|
|
If anyone is in contact with Ian Sayer (G2Ian), please let us know
if he is ok. I don't know where in NZ he lives, and the quake was very strong.
Thanks

I just sent a PM to Ian (his E-M alias is now "ian-s") and pointed him to this topic. I sure hope that he replies soon that he and his loved ones are OK... _________________ varice |

I've sent him a PM as well, but thought I would post a msg here too.
I've also emailed him, waiting to hear something. Chances are that he's ok, but connections wll be down for a while. _________________ Free Tibet. Release the Panchen Lama from prison. Let the Dalai Lama return to his home. |

There have been ongoing earthquakes over the last twenty hours or so here, mostly centered on the South Island, but still making things bad in the lower half of the North Island -- Wellington, the capital, at the bottom of the North Island, is closed for business today, as most buildings are being checked for damage. In my town, Wanganui, we're well north of Wellington by three hours drive, let alone the epicentre of the South Island quake swarms, but we still got shaken around a bit (no structural damage, however, just a lot of movement, and swaying aftershocks.)
Quite a few more remote towns have been cut off by landslides and damaged train rails in places, not to mention cracked and broken roads.
Two deaths have been reported so far, one in Kaikoura, and one in Mount Lyford.

Thanks for the concern.
Auckland is so far from the epicenter that we didn't even feel that one. |
