CHALLENGE FOR JH!!! ELECTRO HARMONIX 16 SECOND DELAY CLONE |
|
|
yA, JH,
I and I think other would love to own an original EH 16 delay. The reissue was crap. The original is a classic. Clone it for them and they will love you. I'd do anything for a clone of the original.... |

I of course have an original for sale, so send me thousands of dollars and all of your Buchla modules.
If he can find a substitute for the Reticon 7th order filter IC, I'd love to see a reissue. |

Are there readable schematics for this?

I've never seen any, and I have a huge collection of EH schemos. I haven't searched them out, however, so perhaps someone will chime in with a link.
Meanwhile, send me thousands of dollars and all of your Buchla modules. |

I'll try and round up info this weekend. I think the post above lists the best schematics. I'll try and find more over the next few days. |

I think that the Lexicon 93 sounds better but without the "Super" expansion, has nowhere near the maximum delay time. Edit: By "better", I mean more "lofi".
Thanks for the schemos, I'm going to archive them for myself. |

This looks like a fun little circuit. Thanks for the links to the schemos and background information. I don't think it's a project for me, though. It's a bit much on the digital side.
Out of curiousity: What did they do wrong on the reissue?

I would like to see an analog delay with LOOOONG delay times and some nice extras like modulation possibilities etc.
Something like the Maxon delay/ EH memory man but with more flexibility...
It would be probably possible to make one with mn3205s that are still in production (shangai belling, coolaudio?).
1800ms max delay time with eight 4096 stage bbds Perhaps that kind of delay would become too complicated and expensive, though |

I think there's so many wonderful delay boxes available today:
I have a TC D-Two, which has modulation, pingpong and filters built-in already (with a splendid user interface).
And I have a Line 6 DL-4, set permanently to Loop Sampler mode, with half speed and reverse modes available, and an extra shorter delay with individual knobs, and tap tempo.
Both are not the latest models, either, and I bet there are a few more like this on the market.
Stupid question: What did a EH 16-second reverb do that these don't ?
(I never owned a EH delay, so I'm being curious.)
JH.
Now playing: Keith Jarrett, Hymns Spheres
Now soldering: 4 interlocking pushbuttons _________________ "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Nice work!
By all means, start a separate thread so you can show more of how you did it (pretty please ). |
