I've been happily working on an M-Audio Axiom 61 for nearly 7 years, but it has inexplicably stopped powering on. Switching cables, USB ports, and using a power adaptor have not helped. I opened it up and gave a look around and saw nothing burned out, broken, or unplugged. Bringing it to a repair shop is hardly worth the cost, but I'd hate to let it go to waste. Does anyone have any recommendations on fixing this?

Its possible that a solder connection has failed. Assuming that you know the external power supplies were goid and the tips were at the correct polarity, I would open the unit up and check the solder connections around the power jack and the USB connector. I would think that the power coming in thru the USB connector would get routed thru the power jack (via a switching contact) and then on to the rest of the circuitry. It may be that the solder joints have failed or the jack has failed. Its also possible that the USB power and jack power are merged thru blocking diodes etc., and the problem could be further down the line. Possibly a bad power switch? If you are only using USB, try it on a different computer...could be that the computer has decided not to recognize that device anymore...(if you have a DC input jack that doesn't work either then this most likely not the problem). Also, look for any fuses. They might be the familiar glass fuses or possibly surface mounted types. Check all with your multimeter.

Multimeter, good eyes and patience are your friends here...
