Hi there,

I'm in the process of building a patch and have managed to patch a cable from the Vel In module to the AM input of the Filter Env. I wanted to get a level knob in between to control the amount of velocity sensitivity, which sounds like a simple thing, but couldn't work out how to do it. Please let me know someone. Thanks.

Kind regards,

Sheridan

There is no direct module to do this, what you need is a level module and a multiplier.

You take the velocity signal and multiply it with the output of the level module and then feed it into the AM input of the envelope module. It does not matter what you connect to which input of the multiplier as a times b is equal to b times a.

When you want to change the velocity curve have a look at the shaper modules, like Shape Exp and Shape Static.

It is good to know that multiplication is a bit peculiar on the G2, it is scaled in such a way that 64 Clavia Units map onto the number one. So where 1 times 1 equals 1 in the real world, in Clavia units 64 times 64 equals 64.

This way of using a multipler is handy in all kinds of situations, not just in this particular situation but always when you want to control modulation amounts.

Maybe have a look at the help for the LevelAdd and the ModulationAmount modules, you'll probably want to use these as well sooner or later for more or less related issues.

Does this help you ?

Jan.

Hey Jan,

what's the best way to mix to control levels? I want to mix the velocity sens signal with another control signal from an LFO, before sending it to the Pitch Mod Input (without the attenuator). Is there anything better than a mixer for this job?

Kind regards,

Sheridan

Nothing cheaper, a mixer is the thing to use here.
