Hey there,

I just applied the black overlay (made by Thomas Heck) to my Andromeda. I think it looks gorgeous:

Thomas' instructions said to stick the overlay on top of the original one, but I removed the original one completely instead, because it fits much better this way. I removed the residual glue with a rubber, because I didn't dare to use chemicals for fear of spilling into the PCBs.

Next thing on my "upgrade list" are wood sides. I already contacted a few carpenters with CNC machines. I hope I don't have to remove the upper PCB to attach the new wood sides -- it was difficult enough to remove the plastic sides without removing the PCB as well...

Cheers,
Helge

Looks great. I'll probably get around to installing mine this weekend. Lots of bloody work.

When you say you removed the glue with "a rubber" what do you mean?

It also works using just the fingers, but I got blisters on several fingers after an hour rubbing away at the glue. It's really extremely sticky. I tried using different materials -- tissue and plastic -- but that doesn't work at all. What did work was the rubber coating on the backside of a toothbrush stick. I worked myself through two toothbrush (-sticks). If this had not worked, I'd have bought a proper pencil eraser. So yes, I mean a pretty stiff rubber/eraser-like material.
