Where to buy parts, other than Tayda? |
|
|
Hey guys, I was wondering where you guys order the parts for these projects? The search has not been helpful
Ebay and I aren't on speaking terms either, and I love tayda, but they don't have all that I need.
Where do you buy Electronic components? |

Banggood is my main supplier: usualy I have my ordered items in 2 weeks (the Netherlands) and free shipment most the times.
2nd for me is Aliexpress, tends to be a bit slower between payment and shipment and the shipment is more often paid. _________________ my synth |

Smallbear is AMAZING for rare parts, although they have more of a pedal focus.
https://nz.mouser.com
Mouser have damn near everything. Just be sure to know what you want, and to read the specs for the parts you order. Or you'll wind up with a 1000V capacitor the size of a beer can, meant for starting electric motors.

The prices on RS Components are something of a rip off. but, for me, they are *untouchable* for speed. I order, I have the parts in my hand in a day or two (as opposed to two or three weeks for anyone else.) |

For work I mostly use www.farnell.com they are even faster as RS-components, but quite expensive _________________ my synth |

I would love to, unfortunately, I was a victim of fraud years ago and Ebay insists that I owe them 600 dollars.....so no. (very long story) |

Probably late for the OP but in case someone else is looking...
I have bought a lot from CPC ('Irish' site https://cpcireland.farnell.com/) - they are part of Farnell/RS but usually cheaper. Often worth checking the other sites too as the stock is often different and prices may vary.
Another good option is Reichelt https://www.reichelt.com/ - fairly good selection and some stuff a lot cheaper than CPC - sometimes near or even below Tayda.
I have been looking at TME but not yet ordered anything.
Some - mostly special music-related stuff - here too http://www.banzaimusic.com/Electronics-c-1664/ |

https://cpcireland.farnell.com/ has a problem when buying from other country - you must contact Export Coordinator etc. Not worth regarding their prices are not so low and they have additional handling fee.
My preferred part sources are:
- thonk: best for Alpha pots, 3.5mm jacks and mini switches. Fast delivery although delivery cost is not small so good for minimum 50 GBP orders.
- TME: low delivery cost and good prices for many parts. Alas they have limited stock compared to Mouser. Prices are better if you buy a lot (for resistors - 100 pieces or more). Very fast delivery.
- Mouser: minimum order about 50 Euro to have no delivery cost. Good prices if you buy large quantities and the biggest stock but they also don't have everything (e.g. pots like Alpha 9mm vertical etc.). Very fast delivery.
- aliexpress: it's a lottery. Sometime you may win and buy good parts for a bargain price. Sometimes not. For example 1% resistors are cheap but they are not 1% (2% usually) and have unknown stability. ICs - may be original, may be not. Ironically, more trustful are used ones then new (even if seller says "new" you may get used). And delivery is a mystery - one month, three months...or not at all.
So, for the prototyping cheap parts (resistors/capacitors) from unreliable sources (like aliexpress) may be used, but for the final builds I prefer to use parts from known manufacturers with known parameters (for resistors it is thermal stability, for ceramic capacitors it is dielectric type). |

Yep, not really a choice if not based in Ireland - here they offer a 6€ fixed handling and delivery which is pretty good and the delivery is fast.
In UK might try this https://cpc.farnell.com/
