Has anyone had any problems with the pitch stick? Mine has just developed a fault where bending down goes directly from neutral pitch to -2 semi (or whatever the range is set to).
Bend up works fine.
If the stick uses a single pot ala Minimoog wheel, then I can’t see it being a mechanical problem. Anyone know how the Nord pitch stick works?

I thought it's a metal strip, with a strain gauge on it. The more the metal strip flexes, the more the strain gauge reacts (the net effect is a resistance change).

I heard it were pressure sensitive resistors, also I heard there have been occasional incidents/issues with the resistors not being glued well to the metal strip.

You can try and ask Clavia to send you a new one and mount it yourself maybe.

Jan.

I have no idea as to how it is built or what may be wrong with your partcicular synth, but here's something someone told me.

If you pull the stick fully over in one or the other direction and release it suddenly, you'll get a "boing" type of effect with the CV from the pitch stick. On the two G2s that I have owned I have been unable to reproduce this effect. When I let go, the CV jumps to the neutral value with no noticiable overshot or ringing even though the physical stick itself vibrates.

Any chance it's a piezo transducer?

Its a pressure sensitive resistor strip glued onto a metal spring strip. If this resistive strip is defect it should be serviced by a qualified technician. Best is to contact Armadillo in the US to have it serviced. Most probably the whole stick will be replaced by a new one. Depending on the age of your G2 this might still be under warranty.

Yes.
And it works fine on my G2X.
I was amazed noticing how small was the "dead zone" (gameing slang) on the G2 pitch stick.
I only wish it could get (with time passing maybe) just a little (very little) bit softer so the vibration could last longer...

Got my G2 back from service, brand new pitch stick. The tech swapped the old wooden part back on top of the new stick because it had a better finish.

Yeah - I noticed when I owned a Nord Lead 3 that the effect was much more pronounced than on my G2X. I really liked how it worked on the Lead. It felt and sounded almost like the effect you get from twanging a wammy bar on a guitar.

It’s not a show stopper, but I do wish the effect was more like it was on the Lead.

Does anyone know if there are any adjustments that can be made to the pitch stick that would allow a more pronounced effect?

I don't know if there are any adjustments, but I just tried the stick on my G2X and after months of use it makes a more exaggerated BOING sound now. Maybe the spring has to loosen up a bit. Idea
