I know, there are some more projects in the pipeline, but I have shelved them for a while to have time to build this project.
It is something I wanted for a long time but never got to it, but after reading an explanation about the main part of this build I decided to build my own in my own way...
The center part is an AtxMega32E5 running at 32MHz and two 16bit ADC’s ADS8320 and an Analog Devices 4 channel 16bit DAC the AD5754 controlled with SPI bus at a 2MHz clockfrequency.
More to come... too much coffee

After seeing the threads about the appendage, designed by Scott Stites, I had to have one for myself badly enough to put all other projects on the shelf.
Especially when I read his Appendage Exposed document, got me on the move and proved to be invaluable for the design.
It needs some more serious programming but here is the first test:

Indeed, seeing Scott's videos ribbon controller seems to be good at making weird sounds. I am not the fan of the gliding sounds (Theremin-like) but it is up to preferences. With a XMega you can also easily implement tempered scale playing on ribbon (by simple voltage lookup table).
For me the best use of ribbon is to control not directly VCO frequency but other sound parameters like VCF frequency (or resonance), phase shift, reverberation time, modulation depth etc.

In this video I use the initial voltage for setting the frequency of the vco, and the slide voltage for the vcf.

I have added midi to the uPendage
notes to the initial voltage, pitch bend to the bend voltage and mod wheel to the tfs voltage
