SOLVED -S&H/Noise- Normal for a clipping Pink/Random output |
|
|
Hello again everybody, finally got some more time to carry on with my YuSynth build and have another question for you!
The images say it all really. The White noise looks and sounds fine to me but the pink and random are clipping. Is this the expected behaviour?
Thanks,
White
Pink
Random

But then again .. to answer the question ... this clipping is not what I'd want to see from a noise generator
For as to why it happens .. see the above two replies. _________________ Jan

You might want to Play around with the values of R27 and R31 to adjust the Levels as described in the schematics. Reduce them all a bit, try something like 430K, 390K or something like that for R27 for example.
you can easily figure the desired value out by just attaching another bigger resister in parallel to the existing one and then calculate the needed final resistor value. Just saying before you start soldering in and desoldering resistors a couple of times and accidentally Messing up the board (lifting up solder Points etc.) after several times.
Edit:
As have others mentioned before, please do post a link to the schematics next time, this will drastically improve the helping efforts. _________________ https://soundcloud.com/bastian-j |

Honestly, my first thought would be a wrong resistor value in an opamp amplifier section. |

Weird, last post just appeared blank

Thanks for the replies. I have checked all the components again and all is correct.
The testing with parallel resistors was a handy tip, thanks Wackelpeter!
For the pink noise I had to use a 100k in parallel with the 470k to remove the audible popping. I have replaced the 470k with 82k.
This improved the random output so didn't see the need to replace R31.
I also replaced R34 with 300k to bring the white noise level down a bit.
New White
New Pink
New Random
Do you think these results are acceptable? Roughly, 23v PP on the white noise, 12v PP on the pink, and 17v PP on the random, these are at the most extreme +- peaks.
Thank for all the advice, really appreciate it. |

Thats more like it .. and with those levels I'd think you to have plenty of signal .. way more than my formant ever did :-) _________________ Jan

As long as it is not clipping, you can always attenuate it during use |
