Hi Everyone !

I have made some stripboard adaptions of Yusynth modules (VCA/ADSR/Steiner Filter) and the Thomas Henry 555 VCO. As a big fan of stripboard, (many thanks to Minus for the 808 clone), I thought some of you might be interested.

That's my first stripboard designs so they are not optimized. But they are all tested and work fine. The Thomas Henry 555 is huge, it doesn't worth the effort now PCBs are back in stock. (BOM and Schematics : http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-54623.html)

Check the yusynth page, some components might be adjusted.

I hope some of you will enjoy ! I think I will regularly add new stripboard versions.

Thanks for posting these, just more or less finished the adsr, after earlier finishing the steiner filer (which still can use some troubleshooting, threads with possible solutions for the minor flaws still experienced have been looked up through tfse Wink).
One thing I noted after initially experiencing some issues with the adsr though, is that orientation of the n4148 diodes can be best double checked with the original schematics, since the visual representation of their polarity seems to be exactly opposite between the 2 modules, and its hard to say in which one it could be called wrong.

For anyone else passing by the Barton's Wave Animator uses TL074(3) and TL072(1).

Hi peeps, forgive my ignorance, I've recently taken up building vero projects again. Could somebody explain to me what the 'Gain 2' input if for on the simple VCA? I've tried comparing the schem and cant quite work it out. Thanks Smile

It looks like the connection of the wiper of VR2, P2 in the schematic.

This is some great stuff!
One question regarding the Barton Wave Animator: the original schematic uses C taper pots, rather than B taper like here. Is this solved here by connecting lug 2 and 3 together? Ive read something before about mimicking C tapers from B tapers, but dont really know the details.

edit: I've checked the schematics and pins 2 and 3 are connected also in the original design with C taper pots, so I am still wondering how the behaviour will change when using linear pots.

Subject description: but you can make it quad if you like!
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hello friends!

I drew up a stripboard layout for the MFOS Dual Log/Lin VCA. The VCA portion of the circuit fit neatly on 1/2 of a board, while the exponential circuit wouldn't fit there. So, if you'd like, you can build a quad version on 3 boards. There's no need for any connections between the boards as they are joined at the SPDT switch, but you will have to route power to your taste. There is room on the edges for a MOTM style connector.

Cheers to Ray for sharing his knowledge freely with the rest of us.

Changelog
v2020-12-05:
Fixed issue with J8 IN B, wrong net list.
    Adjusted layout for clarity
Added stackable pinheaders to support stacking boards

Hello again!

I was inspired by the Yusynth ADSR layout that's in this topic to make my own version of it. My main goal was to be able to fit 2 of this circuit on 1x small stripboard, and while it is a little crowded, i'd say the mission was accomplished.

I've restored the BS170 that was in the original schematic, and it does indeed improve the behavior when the gate recycles before the Decay cap can discharge. I've also restored the short circuit protection resistors.

Hi,
can I use bc548 instead bc547? Are equivalents?
