can we use our building blocks/modules to form a parametric eq?

I think that parametric equalizer is simply set of bandpass filters plus one low- and one high-pass filter with a full control (means frequency, gain and bandwidth or Q). So yes, it could be build with a set of VCFs, if you really have such a whim. |

mmm... a state variable VCF can easily be made multimode, and there's a lot of modulars that have state variable filters because they are easy to build.
Anyway, for this application the state variable filter is probably ideal since you can get low pass, band pass and high pass. _________________ FPGA, dsPIC and Fatman Synth Stuff

Yes, and you can do other stuff with it too.
When N is like 3 you can approximate voice formants (eaoiu), and when its a bit larger you can use it to do basic physical modeling. With N=11 I have a very nice bell sound.
The trick is then in finding the right parameters .. to do that manually is a bit tedious ... but still .. you can find tables on the webs. _________________ Jan

Very interesting to stumble about this Blue Hell, can you give more clues?
"N" = feedback ratio?
Is it pinged or oscillating?
I have just come across this very similar approach
https://aether-machine.com/mutant-theory/
Was always fascinated by "analog" physical modeling, whatever that is---
And this seems to invite experimentation!
Quote: | The Mode switch changes the physical modelling behaviour between the wave equation and fluid flow, the latter tends to be more unstable. |
What might that mean(from above link)? |

The N = 3 refers to the number of parallel filters .. you can excite them with a saw or pulse shaped wave .. but add some noise for whispering .. self oscillation I never tested ... altough I had some idea to make a formant osciallator maybe ... being a set of oscillators tuned to formant frequencies.
The example software posted above has N=4. _________________ Jan
