The tape echo is pretty straightforward, a little saturation and the right type of headgap and emphasis damping. AB'ing with the original goes pretty well.

The A77 had an option for a motor speed control. However, increasing or decreasing speed cannot go too fast or the tape will break. It seems 2 seconds is about the limit.

Extra is of course the possibility of a much shorter delay time on the G2 (a tape deck does have some distance between the heads).

In the feedback loop I put a filter that can be morphed between flat and bandpass with the center always at unity gain. This is optional, so when you remove it be sure to reconnect the green cables, otherwise there will be no echo repeats.

Noise is also optional, the modules can simply be deleted if not of interest.

Tape echo should have the proper type of distortion and the standard G2 distortion modules imho fail for this purpose. The proper build up of an odd harmonic series is quite crucial, so there is a little DIY odd harmonic distortion after the echo taps. Well, let your ears be the judge.

Together with the distortion this echo seems quite useful for drone.

Just posted some more explanation on the workings at:

Its in the sixth post from top.

 Description:
Model of a Revox A77 with motor speed control and used in the old fashioned pingpong echo way. Added an extra bandfilter in the feedback loop and a distortion that goes well for deeply saturated drones.

thanks Rob.

This patch is a gold mine. Not only is the tape echo cool - very cool - but the eq, emphasis, noise, and distortion are great building blocks in themselves.

You da man... king Hail the Master

sensational, this one competes quite succesfully with my space echo for guitar echoes, it's character, versatility and adjustable (!) noiselevel are just great!

woohoo for the guru Cool

Unbelieveable.
I've been working so much for the last several months, I hadn't turned on the G2, not to mention had time to download any new patches.
I need to get a 9-5 desk job, so I can have more G2-time.
This is really cool
