What do you mean by "good source" and what type of analog joysticks? Something that is "raw" for use in a DIY project? Is this a one-off thing, something you want to order several of, or the start of a product?

If it's just one-off DIY stuff, the most interesting joysticks I've come across are in surplus electronic stores. allelectronics.com is one of my favorites. This is more hit/miss, but when you find something it's like gold but it's cheap.
Electronics suppliers, such as mouser, digikey, avnet, pioneer are also good places to look. These guys keep a regular stock and sell to people who make products. Digikey is generally more expensive, but this is because they cater to both large orders as well as DIYers for 1 at a time orders. You can sometimes have problems with the others when ordering small quantities.

digikey.com has a few mini joysticks (1") from CTS for just a few $ each. see this page: http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T053/1204.pdf

If someone else knows of a good source (with good selection) for manufacturing (like orders of 500 or 1000) I'm very much interested as well.

Thanks

im just looking for a couple of them to use for controling my synths. Im in the UK , and cant find an electronic store that sells them. I looked on mouser (searched for 'joystick' and 'x y controller') and came up with nothing..

If no one from the uk answers i'll get them from digikey.

Hi,

You can get the same mini joystick from RS Components in the UK.
Part number RS 456-8241
