So, I got my G2 a couple of days ago, and this is my first patch posted. It exploits all the new CCs in the v3.0 software for the Dave Smith Instruments Evolver (mono version).

Hopefully it's pretty self explanatory:
A1-3 is oscillator levels, shapes & frequencies.
C1 is amplifier ADSR
D1 is filter levels and envelopes
E1 is feedback (+distortion)
E2 is the delays

I've also added volume controls on the 8th knob wherever it was free - they control 'channel volume' which doesn't seem to work quite the same as master volume, but it's handy to have if things get out of control.

There's one bonus feature. The Evolver won't let you route an LFO to the digital oscillator waveshapes (although you can sequence them). So there's an LFO (in A3) routed to them. Takes fairly careful setting. The rate and range interact very closely.

I guess the next step is working out how to persuade the G2 to send strings of sysex, to take control of everything else in the box.

Hope you enjoy, and thanks to all the people who've made such great patches for the G2 on this site.

Hey tombola, welcome, be it late maybe.

The other day Rob Hordijk (also on G2 and evolver) tried to convince me and persuade me to go out and buy an evolver. In fact he gave a very nice demonstration of the evolver on that occasion ( I can still hear it when I close my eyes, almost).

G2 and evolver seem to be a nice combination (I have just the G2 only, well two of 'm actually, engines both).

About the sysex, unfortunately its not possible to trick the G2 into that ...

You could always use a program lime MIDi Translator to translate the CC generated by the G2 into sys ex string; I haven't tried it but it should work...

I'd highly recommend the v3 software - it's only $25, and attaching any kind of control surface to the evo is really fun.
Oh, I hadn't really thought about using morphs to control multiple parameters... Good idea.

It looks like I'll be getting an Evolver (v3) from Dave soon. Maybe in time for Xmas. Rob convinced me too... he should be a sales guy Wink

I chose the small desktop version due to the fact I have very little space in my rig, and as I can see, my G2 can more than adequately control it. I also have a PC1600 for tweaking it to

Cheers tombola
Have had my G2X 6 days now and haven't installed anything yet .
Bought The G2X with insurance settlement moneys received from my notebook being nicked from my truck in Sept.

Weird twist - It was a B-stock item in local brick and mortar
8th street music in Philadelphia. heres the twisted part
This very G2x has a RMA number and a fedex sticker as returned on 06/06/06 from The Cheltenham Art Center.Yes the site of electro-music 2006.
So many whom were there may have played this unit.
I know that I played around with a g2xthat was being demoed at EM-06
Twisty to me ..... Or a Twist Of Fate.?

I have had the evolver desktop since May and really have not delved deep into it . This .pch is the gift that keeps on giving the whole year through.
I 'll download and get to it but not before Christmas.

For those of us who haven't Evolved yet, would you mind posting some mp3's of what you've done with the G2 controlling the Evolver?

thanks

Is there a way to request the current state of the Evolver in CC msgs? (ie - get the G2 editor updated with current evolver state)?

i like the evolver, it is quite a bad ass beast, but I have not had much time to spend with it, but I plan on soon.

it can sound really agressive and intense, the filter is much more flexible than the G2 built in ones.

as far as I can tell you cannot request a midi cc send dump.
