We all love the new LCD displays and the prices are almost decent. Apple has been an innovator and this info might be of interest:

New Apple displays report: An interesting report from one of our older and more reliable sources in the flat-panel display manufacturing industry describes his company's recent discussions with Apple about supplying the company with 30-inch display panels, and confirms that the company expects to End-Of-Life its standard aspect 17-inch Studio Display soon. Apple's display lineup isn't likely to be updated until February or March, when three models with all-new enclosures will use the existing 20- a nd 23-inch panels alongside the new 30-inch unit.

A particularly interesting section of the report states that Apple is considering dropping its custom ADC connector to reduce costs and improve the Windows platform market for its displays. Instead, new Macs would be equipped with a small power connector, allowing the new displays to continue to employ a single cable; the cable simply branches into DVI, mini-power-connector, and USB cables at its far end. For x86 PC systems and older Macs, a cheap Apple power brick adaptor would be made available for a sm all fraction of the cost of today's ADC-to-DVI converter ($149). Cheap adapters would also be available to adapt existing ADC-equipped graphics cards to the new display cable. No one would be left behind, nor would migration costs be prohibitive. All arou nd, a very good idea if you ask us.

Dropping the ADC is very smart.. and it is interesting that they are going for the 30 inch displays. I have no info about the display resolutions yet though.
