Sound Lab II Maxi-Synth Subject description: Any timetable estimations? |
|
|
I'm sure most of us want to know more from this subject, so instead of PM:ing to Adhdboy, I just post the question here:
Hi Ray,
I read your interview on amersynth.com. At the end you mentioned something about "Sound Lab II Maxi-Synth" and winter 05/06.
Any sneak previews possible, is there a chance for us to have new synth project for this winter?

Wow! I haven't seen that part of the interview before
I hope it's not an april fools joke... Why not e-mail Ray?
If it looks like a cool DIY project I have to have one! ...or two
I hope that there will be sneak previews on MFOS soon... Last edited by Pehr on Tue Nov 15, 2005 5:47 am; edited 2 times in total |

Quote: | UPDATE: Since this interview, Ray has mentioned a new DIY synth project he's "envisioning". The "Sound Lab II Maxi-Synth" will probably be based upon a 6.5" x 9.0" PCB and be a "patch only synth with lots of pots and a few switches" says Ray. |
Sounds great (err- pardon the pun!). However, notice the words 'envisioning' and 'probably'- but knowing Ray, it will happen pretty soon!
I'm still building mine.- This has probably been the longest going project I've ever done!! It's not recommended to do these things while nurturing very small children while doing a degree!!!
Anyone here been to MIT? I'm curious. _________________ ACHTUNG!

I'm still building mine too...
In the last weeks I've also worked on some further details on my WP20 and WSG, so I had to stop working on my SL for a while...
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to see what the mighty Mr. Wilson's genius mind will create in the (near?) future...
BTW, a Sound Lab II Maxi-Synth sounds really promising...

Hi Crew,
I don't post here since long time but i'm always present!
... I nearly finished my 2x sound labs (i miss only the wodden-box).
It is really double (complete of all the Ray's mods) sound lab (including 2x S&H circuits) with an amazing front panel. It is very very stable with the 2K (PT146) and with the scale adj.procedure.
I will post some pictures and some mp3s soon.
THANK YOU RAY_THANK YOU RAY_THANK YOU RAY_THANK YOU RAY_
.... we all wait the new "Sound Lab II Maxi-Synth" _________________ paolo ferrari |

What would be reasonable features of a Sound Lab II? Any ideas? |
Here we go!
howabout stereo for starters? A dual 12dB/oct vcf with highpass? a voltage controlled parametric eq? Ring modulator that also doubles as a vca and a panner? continually variable voltage controlled waveform VCO which also works as an LFO? VC echo/ delay. Oh yeah rechargable batteries!

How about full envelope control (adsr)? And also separate envelope control for the filter. That made the Pro One perfect for analogue percussion sounds in the eighties as I recall. _________________ /Per
