Noodles for New Years |
|
|
As you know, we are having a live streaming New Years Eve party here on electro-music.com. We still have openings if you'd like to participate. See: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-8969.html for details.
Blue Hell has offered to put up a special variant on his Noodle Radio. We can stream G2 Noodles during intervals when there are no live performances. We'll post on the radio.electro-music.com website the name and the creator of the noodles when they are playing live over the stream.
If you have a noodle or two or three or whatever to submit, please post here. If the noodle has already been posted, just post the link. We'll get the stuff organized for the NYE streaming event.
Also, we are still interested in mp3s of performances if you have other plans for the evening. PM mosc if you'd like to send something in. |

Hello Howard,
I would like to submit my performance "Fast Thinking" located at this topic:
http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-5099.html
It runs almost 7 minutes from start to finish. I hope that is not too long.
Happy New Year! _________________ varice |

No that's not too long IMO. Currently I have a scheduler though that will switch noodles after a preset but slightly varying time interval (now set to about 9 minutes).
I'll try and see if I can come up with a silence detection system for the special case of noodles that stop, as I'd like to be able to incorporate such noodles as well.
I'll keep you informed, there are some more changes I'll have to make to the system - but things go very well sofar ! _________________ Jan

Ok, got a silence detector now that seems to work well with "Fast thinking" and it also gets rid of some silences in my own noodles :-)
For contributions I'd like to have the following information :
Noodle name and Author as they should show up in people's audio player.
Aditionally some extra info of a descriptive nature could be supplied, that bit will be used on webpages that are generated, but I don't know yet if that info will be visible on radio.electro-music.com - we'll have to see where things are going exactly. Extra info can contain an URL.
Anyway, "Fast Thinking" is in the system now as :
noodle name : Fast Thinking
Author : Varice
Extra info : (C) 2005, Varice
When you want to have this changed please let me know. |

Thanks Jan!
Good work on the silence detector. I had assumed that there would be a time limit - but I thought it would be shorter than 7 minutes.
Changes that I would suggest for the info:
Author: Varice J. Mire
Extra info: An algorithmic sequencer controlled performance. (c)2005 Varice J. Mire _________________ varice |

Ok already thought you'd want the "Mire" part to be in, I'll update your info, thanks. _________________ Jan

I'm thinking about adding an extra parameter "prefered duration", this for noodles that don't end, mainly, I guess.
Good idea ? _________________ Jan

Please people help me by submitting or proposing noodles to incorporate. I got everything set up and running but have no contents ... except for a few of my own and the one by Varice. _________________ Jan

Please feel free to use anything I have posted as filler. Some of the older stuff might cause problems with later prf's due to a note holding bug that hopefully Clavia will fix some day. Anything in the last 6 months should be safe.
I though, would like to hear some of the 'expanded only' prfs from MM, GE and others. |

Is any of this material going to be downloadable from the electro-music website after new year? As I'm going to be in a cottage on Exmoor (UK - think Hound of the Baskervilles etc.) over new year, I'll miss all this. The upside is that I will not be distracted from making my way through a humidor freshly stocked with Cuba's finest, a crate of rioja, and several packs of linen-finish playing cards with which to earn the cost of a new G2 through a few nights of Texas Hold'em.
Happy new year to everyone on the forum - you've all been a great help with my synth music-making over the past 12 months.

We'll try to record as much as possible, but I'm going to be pretty busy running the servers and performing myself.
I request that all of the performers record their own sessions as a stop gap.
When we get a decent archive of material like this, we can make radio.electro-music.com a full-time streaming station.
Good luck on you poker game. _________________ --Howard

Maybe Howard can use those, but I can only use self-playing Nord Modular G2 patches (noodles).
But I could use more noodles ! _________________ Jan

Cool. I've got some nice material (G2) that I've been messing with - mostly ambient experimental stuff that's evolved from changing existing patches from users on this forum, but its all been triggered via midi in my DAW which is why I can only post MP3's. I can list who's patches I've used too.
I'll give Howard a shout. |

You can send me mp3s attached to PMs. Please be sure to have a verbal into and outro indication who you are, where you are located and something about the music. You know, it's radio.

I'll be doing some last minute updates on the NR contents. Things will be a bit extra messy for a while, with wrong "composer - title"s etc.
Hmm too bad this "g2ian - plonk" one is beautifull. _________________ Jan
