YoYoYo - I used the ISD1416 voice recorder chip a few years ago to make a super lofi loop recorder with repitch. Recently I've been trying to update and improve it (had problems with big clicks at the start/end of playback for example).. Well, over at General Guitar Gadgets there's a schem for a circuit called the Mobius Trip (by Dean Hazelwanter and it was by using the analogue front end of this that I eliminated the clicks..

So far so good - lofi looping with repitch, here's a couple of mp3s (feeding it through a Wasp filter clone and VCDelay for good measure)::
Looper1 Looper2

so..... what I did yesterday was to attack the address lines with a simple randomising multioscillator --- 6 simple oscs going at different speeds (for random effect) made from a simple 40106 chip. Then triggered playback with an LFO from my modular and .... BOOM - pure sonic JOY!

Here's the new mp3 from yesterday - the first 20secs or so is pure playback, then we start the LFO triggering playback and then attaching the random oscs. You can hear the LFO being taken up to audio speeds and its pulsewidth is changed to give clickety-clicks

I'm aiming to get circuit details up on my site maybe tonight (soooooon at least)..

Check the ISD1416 datasheet for some ideas

BUT! Still like the wierdy nature of this circuit!

Tried out CV modulating the 555 clock speed last night... Can't do that with a palm pilot can ya?!? (but, yeah, the palmpilot and software do look to be super cool and really good value)
