This is a new song I recently recorded, there's a bit of hiss since I had the microphone too close to the computer ( I think that's why)

Please tell me what you think

Could be a good song. I think you need to work on the recording/production techniques a bit. The voice need some equalization and compression and needs to be put back in the mix, IMHO.

thanks, I'll try the equalization and compression on the voice now.

Edit: I'm hearing a slight difference, but not a huge one, my ear isn't well trained for this at the moment

The song has a "minimalist" feel, even though it probably has more tracks than most of my songs, it's a bit of a lullaby i think, or at least that's what i'm going for.

I used garageband to record this song ( i have logic too) when doing the compression, at some moments it sounded perfect, but then it would "change" mid song. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to do it properly.

I agree with mosc on the production remarks he made.

The voice and the text have a certain intimacy which is really great but it gets lost for me I think because the voice lacks a certain distance. It's too close, either the microphone was too close or it is too loud in the track.

When you recorded this in one go (as a single track) it will be hard to do something about it (applying compression will cause pumping in the other sounds) - only re-recording would help. When the voice is a separate track it could work to compress it, but there are some plops in it that will be hard to deal with - maybe a slight touch of reverb could mask it a bit - but it might loose it's intimacy then.
