does anyone have any reccomendations for a good and affordable place to get tracks mastered for vinyl? i'm looking to put out a 7" this year, so i'll only be mastering two tracks, and don't think i should attempt mastering for vinyl myself (unless anyone has some excellent tips, but it seems a lot more tricky than mastering for cd/digital). any other tricks or tips i should know before sending it off for mastering? thanks everybody!

Ask the dutch dudes! They are releasing vinyls all the time.

Here's a link I had bookmarked: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/onemusic/recording/masteringp09.shtml

Not very thorough but still interesting Smile

-I'd say the easy answer would be request going allong to the cutting session. Tell your record cutting engineer what you like, perhaps take along a list of recordings you admire. If you have a good cutting engineer and suply him with a good recording you can get a very nice record without spending extra money on seperate mastering. Don't squash your dynamics, vinyl deals with dynamics in a different way then cd.

The thing is that unlike cd records need a expert to record to the actual master and avoid burning out the cutting diamond and so on. I sugest you make the most of that expert.
