Charles Cohen Appears in Philadelphia June 22! |

I've heard Charles Cohen before. He's really great on the Buchla synthesizer. If you haven't seen him before, it is worth the effort. I'm including all of the Rotundra info in this post. The part about Charles is in bold.
I've never heard the other artists; maybe great or maybe not. That's the Rotunda. I must say though, I've never been dissappointed I made a Rotunda event...

Sat. 6/21 at 8pm: Punk/Rock from: Knife Fight, UMIAK!, Via Satelite, Select 68, Zolof the Rock'n'Roll Destroyer. This is the official after-party to the Clark Park Summer Solstice Fest occuring earlier that day.

Sun. 6/22 at 8pm: Jazz great Elliot Levin duets w/ Charles Cohen. Both men are significant in numerous Philadelphia scenes. Levin, a regular at Tritone, Fiume, and other local spots, plays reeds for and sits in with bands such as Calvin Weston's Big Tree, Elliot Levin Trio, Animus, The Crime, and others. He also performs beat poetry & spoken word. Charles Cohen is a master improviser on the Buchla Music Easel, a blue "box" of wires and plugs which generate various sounds and pitches. The music will range from avant garde jazz to ambient.
*+ John Cecil Price from The Crime(ex-AKASH, Temple of Bon Matin, White Girl, Psychohead), joins up with DJ Lorne to spin & weave "Massive Tales of Love with a Mighty Strange Kindness".

Sat. 6/28 at 8pm: Philadelphia's Puppet Uprising presents their EVENING CABARET! Featuring BEN T. MATCHSTIK's return to the Puppet Uprising with the newest adventures of that old folk hero "Jack the Giant-Queller!", along with "The Milking" - a demented favorite from the Chicago Puppetry Festival, that manipulates milk-jugs into a ballet of biotechnical bunraku.

THE TOM SARVER PUPPET EXPRESS will present "Djuha Stories", a booth show using handpuppets, telling a series of 1,000 year old
humorous folk tales from the Middle East. Tom Sarver is one of the founders of Pittsburgh's "Black Sheep Festival".
Also:
VIPERFISH PUPPET COLLECTIVE (Alison Miner, Cybelle Collins, and Wendy Hyatt) and their Philly debut, "An and the Old Black Cat", a piece of queer-positive puppet-punk replete with 1950s educational films.

Star suitcase showman ANTHONY HEARD throws down "Storm Und Drain",
a hip-hop mockumentary produced through a workshop with Spiral Q Puppet Theater.

The Flying Rutabagas have traveled all the way across the Cornbelt
from Saint Louis, Missouri, toting with them tents and sleeping bags, food, water, and clothing, circus gear and puppet shows --- all of this ON THEIR BIKES!!!! How do they do it? Why do they do it?
