My XT is not very well at the moment, there is an intermittent problem with the main output. The sound suffers from a rhythmic gating effect which speeds up and slows down. This comes and goes, mostly after the XT has been on for a while. I'll upload an mp3 later.

Just wondered if anyone else had had a similar problem and knew what it might be.

Also, I'm taking this to my friendly electronics repair man and wondered if anyone knew if the schematics are available anywhere, just in case.

Sorry to hear that. Can you try another power supply?

I don't know if I have anything similar - I'll have a look

do you think this could be the cause of the problem?

It's possible. I'm just guessing because you mention that it takes time for the problem to occur, and the power supply is one element that heats up over time. Also, it seems that when voltages aren't right, things might work, but become faulty.

It's interesting you say this, as I've been using a slightly different power supply for some time, as the old one died a while back.

I'm seeing if I can get the proper psu fixed to see if that will help.

Thanks for the advice Smile

Great. I've dusted off my XT and replaced my Q rack with it for live performance. It produces such great and unusual sounds. The main reason I replaced the Q was it was acting kind of funny. Sometimes a few presets wouldn't play unless I turned the rack on and off. Sometimes step sequences would begin with some noise and chatter. I felt I couldn't trust it for performance. So now I'm reacquainting myself with the XT.
